Hi I’m Wan-Yi Liao, currently a research assistant. My research focuses on the interactions between ground-cover plants and arthropods, including both pests and natural enemies, within open-field orchard ecosystems.
My background is rooted in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for protected cultivation. I earned my Bachelor’s in Entomology and my Master’s in Plant Medicine from NTU, followed by a second Master’s through the PlantHealth Erasmus Project in Spain, Italy, and Belgium. This academic path was complemented by seven years of industry experience as an agricultural consultant, specializing in augmentative biocontrol within facility environments.
Beyond the lab, I am deeply involved in Rural Regeneration for citrus production in Beitou. My work emphasizes human-environment interaction within agricultural systems, aiming to translate scientific knowledge into social value and support the sustainable development of local farming communities.
In my spare time, I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, cooking, and playing the piano. And of course, a potluck party with friends is always welcome.
